Youtube presently inaccessible

Google yesterday reported that Youtube has recently been blocked in China, the New York Times reports. This announcement comes as little surprise to those living here, because Youtube has been unreachable for the past few days. The report cites no official reason, but notes there is widespread speculation it may be related to uploaded videos of unrest in China's southwest. Internet censorship in China can be a complicated and charged issue, and the questions it raises oftentimes highlight discussions of the future of Chinese society.
