The Killers cancel Beijing show

The US rock band The Killers this weekend suddenly canceled their upcoming Asian tour, which included a much-anticipated show in Beijing, the Global Times of China reports. Scheduled for this Tuesday evening at the Worker's Gymnasium in downtown Chaoyang District, the now-canceled concert represents the third time a major US act has pulled the plug on its Beijing performance at the last minute. However, whereas Linkin Park and Oasis both canceled their Beijing shows last year for difficulties obtaining a permit, The Killers report on their website that "a serious illness of a close family member" was the impetus to cancel a tour that also included stops in Singapore, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Seoul and the Philippines. Understandably disappointed fans are told the gigs will be rescheduled soon, and in the meantime tickets are being refunded. "Our love and prayers go out to you and your family members," one fan wrote on the band's website.
