Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner will arrive in Beijing tomorrow to lead a delegation of nearly 200 policy makers and advisers in talks with Chinese leaders, the New York Times writes. It will be the largest group of American officials to ever attend a single set of meetings in a foreign capital, and the agenda will focus mainly on economic relations between the US and China. However, while issues at hand include trade balancing, investment liberalization and exchange rates, leaders will be forced to address a number of other current international issues, including tension on the Korean Peninsula and the debt crisis in Greece. Secretary Clinton today was in Shanghai to visit the World Expo and see first-hand the US pavilion that she is credited with spearheading, and the day before she was in Tokyo.
