Obama to visit in November

Newly-confirmed US ambassador to China Jon Huntsman Jr. said today at the ambassador's residence that President Obama "is going to be visiting in the middle of November," Reuters reports. While no specific dates were given, it is so far the most concrete indication of when Obama's much-anticipated visit will take place. According to Reuters, this sets the stage for "a big summit likely to tackle the global economy, North Korea and climate change," and will come as President Obama is in Asia to attend an APEC summit in Singapore November 14-15. Like many places elsewhere in the world, President Obama is a celebrity in China, and Beijingers will no doubt be proud to host him.
