North Korean Premier Kim Yong II arrived in Beijing yesterday as part of a 5-day goodwill visit tour, according to Xinhua News. The visit, which began with stops at Taishan Mountain and Confucius' birthplace in Shandong Province, comes at the official invitation of Chinese premier Wen Jiabao to attend a ceremony commemorating the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and North Korea. It should be noted that China has been an important partner in international diplomatic efforts to restrain some North Korean activities, such as weapons development.
