Bird's Nest to host Italian Super Cup

The Bird's Nest Olympic Stadium will host the Italian Super Cup this August 8th, reports the UK's The Guardian. The marquee game traditionally opens the curtain for the Italian soccer league's season and features the top winners of the previous season. The game is being held overseas to encourage interest in the Italian soccer league, which competes with the Spanish and English professional leagues for talent and fans. The Italian Super Cup has previously been held in Washington, DC, New Jersey and the capital of Libya, Tripoli; the teams competing this year are Inter and Lazio.
