Beijing, Singapore airports sign partnership

Representatives of the Beijing Capital International Airport and Singapore's Changi Airport have signed a "sister airport" partnership agreement, according to the Straits Times. Concluded yesterday in Beijing, the agreement marks closer ties between two of Asia's major transportation hubs: Beijing Capital, the point of entrance for domestic and international visitors to the city, and Changi Airport, which is consistently ranked as one of the world's finest. The agreement calls for greater working collaboration on projects, seminars and staff training. The new "sister airports" may be well matched: in preparation for the 2008 Olympics, Beijing Capital underwent a large renovation that built a massive new terminal intended to garner more recognition, and in 2009 the World Airport Awards ranked Changi the third best worldwide.
