Beijing 798 art district to host biennale

Beijing's famous 798 art district will host the Beijing 798 Biennale this August 15 to September 12, the Art Daily reports. The event, which is in association with New York-based the:artist:network, will showcase work of more than 70 artists using an array of mediums like video, photography, performance and "other new art forms." Curatorial Director Marc Hungerbuhler, describing the biennale, said, "It redefines Beijing as a catapult for trans-cultural movements and is structured from the bottom up, starting with the artist and the curator."
